    Dot Net Developer

Dot net developer for the front end web retail system (Multi currency, Multi channel & Multi language) and administration interface for maintaining the web and back end systems. We as a team of four (3 developers and 1 QA) in an Agile environment started working on enhancing the existing website which was done in ASP and VB6.0 for business objects. As we went on working on the website and the back end web management system initially, we completely learned the system and about how it is implemented to the core. After us taking over the project we moved to Bristol as a new IT team where we spent rest of the time converting the web system and the back end system to Dot net framework 3.5 alongside enhancing and deploying the existing system as per business needs

The old system was done in Classic ASP and VB6.0 for business objects which were later converted to Dot net platform using Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 (ASP.net/C#/VB.net Framework 3.5). In conversion process we used different technologies which include ASP.net, C#, VB.net, Microsoft LINQ, XSLT, XML, JQuery, Java Script, VB Script, CSS, SQL Server 2005/2008. The enhancement and maintenance of the existing system includes using technologies like Classic ASP, VB6.0, CSS, HTML, Java Script, VB Script, SQL Server 2005 which includes usage of complex stored procedures, Queries and views. The converted system was developed in a clever way which could swap the content of the total site using XSLT transforms. The web system was able to handle multi currency and different look and feel for each site with a single code base for all the channels. The administration interface was also developed in such a way that it could handle all the currency channels, stock maintenance, product, brand management, orders and parsing services with a single code base. Role also involved procedures like deployment automation (Batch process), Code revisioning, Source repository control (Tortoise SVN), IIS domain/Hosts configuration. The database standardisation was also done to handle all the currencies in a single database and Stock/Domain management. The contract involves starting project from the scratch till complete development and deployment of the project to live with very high standards involving a complete software development life cycle.
